Our position

Threads Download respects intellectual property rights and complies with the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA, 17 U.S.C. § 512) as well as comparable copyright laws in other jurisdictions.

Threads Download does not host, store, or cache user-uploaded content. The service fetches publicly accessible media from Meta's CDN and proxies it to the requesting browser. However, if you believe content downloadable through Threads Download infringes your copyright, you may submit a takedown notice and we will respond promptly.

How to submit a DMCA takedown notice

To file a takedown request, send an email to dmca@threadsdownloads.com with the subject line DMCA Takedown Notice and include all of the following:

  1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or someone authorised to act on their behalf.
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed (a description, a link to the original work if possible, or a registration number).
  3. The exact Threads post URL of the material you claim is infringing — this is what we need to block. Without it we can't act on your request.
  4. Your contact information: full legal name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
  5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  6. A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on the copyright owner's behalf.

What happens next

Once we receive a complete and valid notice, we will:

  • Acknowledge receipt within 1 business day.
  • Add the offending Threads post URL to our internal block list within 24–48 hours, preventing Threads Download from extracting media from that URL.
  • Notify you of the action taken.

Note that blocking the URL on Threads Download does not remove the content from Threads itself. To have the content removed at the source, you must also file a report with Meta directly via the Threads / Instagram copyright reporting form.

Counter-notice procedure

If you believe your content was blocked in error or as a result of misidentification, you may submit a counter-notice. Send an email to dmca@threadsdownloads.com with the subject line DMCA Counter-Notice and include:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature.
  2. Identification of the material that was blocked and the location at which it appeared before being blocked (the Threads URL).
  3. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief that the material was blocked as a result of mistake or misidentification.
  4. Your full name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
  5. A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for the judicial district in which your address is located (or, if outside the United States, of the Northern District of California), and that you will accept service of process from the person who provided the original notice or their agent.

On receiving a valid counter-notice, we may restore the URL to our extraction service unless the original notifier files an action seeking a court order against you within 10–14 business days.

Repeat-infringer policy

Threads Download does not have user accounts, so there is no per-user history to act on. However, if a particular Threads account is the subject of repeated, valid DMCA notices, we will block extraction from all URLs associated with that account.

Misuse of DMCA notices

Filing a false DMCA notice is a federal crime in the United States and may carry serious legal consequences in other jurisdictions. Please do not submit a takedown notice for content you do not own or for content that constitutes fair use, parody, or other lawful use.
