Privacy Policy

We don't ask you to log in, and we don't store your downloads. Here's the full picture.

Information we collect

Threads Download is built so we don't have to collect personal data. Specifically:

  • Submitted URLs. When you submit a Threads post URL, our server uses it once to fetch the post page, extracts the media URL, and discards it. We do not log it persistently.
  • Server access logs. Like virtually every web server, ours records the request method, path, response status, response size, IP address, user agent, and timestamp. These logs are kept for up to 30 days for rate-limiting and abuse-prevention purposes, then rotated and deleted.
  • Cookies. Threads Download does not set first-party tracking cookies. Third parties (Google AdSense and Google Analytics) may set cookies for ad measurement, personalisation, and aggregate analytics — see below.

How downloads work

When you click a download button, our server makes a request to Meta's CDN on your behalf, receives the file as a stream, and pipes it directly to your browser as an attachment. The file is not written to disk on our servers, and we do not record which files were requested by which IP.

Cookies and advertising

Threads Download displays ads served by Google AdSense. AdSense and its partners may use cookies (including the NID cookie and ad-personalisation cookies) to:

  • Measure ad impressions and clicks.
  • Show ads that are more relevant to you based on your previous activity on Google services or sites in the AdSense network.
  • Limit how many times you see the same ad.

You can control or disable personalised advertising at any time:

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate traffic patterns — how many people visit, which pages are popular, what country and device type they're on, and roughly how the site performs. This is used purely to make Threads Download better; we do not use it to identify you personally or build advertising profiles on you.

Google Analytics may set cookies (e.g. _ga, _ga_*) and reports IP addresses to Google in a truncated/anonymised form. You can opt out at any time:

  • Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
  • Use any browser's "Do Not Track" or tracking-protection feature.
  • Block analytics via your browser's privacy settings or an extension like uBlock Origin.

Third parties we rely on

  • Meta / Threads CDN — serves the actual media files. Your IP is shared with Meta when our server fetches a post page or media file; Meta's privacy policy applies to that interaction.
  • Google AdSense — displays ads. See above.
  • Google Analytics 4 — anonymised, aggregated traffic analytics. See above. Google Privacy Policy.
  • Hosting provider — our VPS / web-host provider stores access logs as part of normal operations.

We do not use Facebook Pixel, TikTok Pixel, or any other social-media tracking SDKs.

Children's privacy

Threads Download is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)

We collect very little personal data, but where applicable you have the right to:

  • Request access to any personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction or deletion of that data.
  • Object to processing or request restriction of processing.
  • Withdraw consent for advertising cookies (via your browser settings or the links above).
  • File a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Data retention & security

Server access logs are retained for up to 30 days, then deleted. We use HTTPS for all traffic, helmet-based security headers, and standard server hardening. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we keep our exposure minimal by collecting almost nothing.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Threads Download after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
